Hello Lamb Friends:
Big doings tomorrow. The sheep are getting sheared. Farmer Mark has been gathering all the different groups of sheep who have been grazing hither and yon since May. He has moved them back to the winter barns in Bernardston. It’s a big job that’s very time consuming as you can imagine.
Tomorrow several shearers will arrive early in the morning. Kevin Ford and Gwen Hinman have been coming to our farm for over two decades to shear our sheep. Tomorrow there will be plenty of helpers catching sheep, picking up wool, and bagging it. Some wool will go to Lisa at Bloom Woolens and will become her yarn Babe. Some will go to the Western Mass Fiber Shed Project for their new Wool Pellet program.
To throw a wrench into the works, a whole bunch of sheep decided to go on WalkAbout this morning. Here they are on their way home after our neighbors discovered them on their field.
I won’t be at shearing tomorrow because I’ll be selling our lamb at the Second to Last Amherst Farmers Market from 8 to 1:30. Please stop by to pick up some of our delicious pasture raised lamb to stock your freezer for the winter cooking season. We just got a new batch of LAMB SAUSAGE for all of you Sausage Fans.
I’ll also have a fresh batch of pottery and tea towels that could make perfect Christmas gifts. Here’s a favorite vase with some nasturtiums from a few weeks ago.
Get outside tonight or tomorrow to view the Supermoon called the Beaver Moon. You can read more about it here.
Hope to see some of you tomorrow at the market. Thanks so much for all your support over the past year and years.
Your shepherds,
Kristin and Mark
