Holiday Wishes, Early Lambs + Lamb for Holiday Feasts
Hello Friends of Leyden Glen Lamb,
We’ve had a busy and surprising December thus far. On the morning of December 1st, Mark was doing chores. He heard an odd noise and disregarded it. A few minutes later, he went to investigate. There in the corner of the barn was a big beautiful black lamb being attended to by her mother. December 1st is very early for lambs to be born on our farm. By the middle of December eleven more lambs joined the first one. We don’t know what is the reason for this early lambing. Perhaps the drought. We’ll never know. Here are a few photos of the new additions to the flock.
We are expecting many more lambs - most likely in January and February although there are a few ewes that look close. Should make for an interesting Christmas.
We picked up our last order of lamb for the 2022 season from the processor just in time for holiday feasting. We have several bone-in whole legs available. They are between 4 to 6 pounds each and make a beautiful centerpiece to your holiday meal. If you would like one, please give us a call or email. You can pick them up at the farm in our self serve lamb store anytime if you pay with cash or check. They are in the bottom drawer of the freezer. If you need to pay with a credit card, you will have to make an appointment. Have any questions, send them on.

Here is an excellent article with directions for roasting a bone-in leg of lamb. It is remarkably easy and barely any work. I do suggest using a meat thermometer so that you don’t overcook it. Here’s a quick video on how to carve a bone-in leg of lamb.
We also have racks of lamb, boneless half legs, rib and loin chops, shanks, shoulder chops, ground lamb, sausage and plenty of premium stew meat that is cut from the leg. Check out our website here for lots of delicious recipes.
As the year turns towards the holiday season, we wish you all the best. We hope your holidays are filled with love and kindness and plenty of good farm raised food. We appreciate being able to be part of your family’s life by providing our pasture raised lamb.
With best wishes from our farm to yours,
Mark, Kristin, Julia, and critters
