No Lamb at Market June 8
Hello Friends of Leyden Glen Lamb
A quick note to let you know that we won’t be at the Amherst Farmers Market tomorrow - June 8.
We were moving sheep out to pasture this morning on a rather rough road (if you can call it that). The bottom of my truck scraped something. By the time I got home, warning lights were blinking. Hopefully it will be fixed quickly but for now it is in the hands of the mechanics.
I’m sorry if you were planning on some lamb for the weekend. If all goes well, I will be back again next Saturday.
Most of you know that we rely on our dogs for a lot of help at our farm. We have three Great Pyreness Livestock Guardian Dogs - Elsa, Beau and Max. We also have a new Border Collie named Annie for herding the sheep. That’s 3 of the 4 in the photo above. Our dogs are family members and we count on them every day and night to help with the flock. Their instincts are keen. It is so remarkable that these dog breeds have developed over thousands of years to help farmers with their flocks. We love our dogs!
Have a good weekend.
