Hello Friends of Leyden Glen Lamb:
It’s a relief that spring is here - isn’t it? The grass is growing. The lambs are growing. That shade of green that I long for is about to appear here in the hills of western Massachusetts. Do you see that poplar tree down in the lower pasture in the photo below? I look for it every year out my kitchen window. It’s the first tree to start budding out and it’s just beautiful.
The daffodils have been incredible this year. With the long, lovely spring, they have lasted longer than usual. Every fall I plant a few more varieties and they multiply over the years. Here are some of the varieties in a couple of my vases. I’m especially into the late season daffs to stretch out the season and the ones with the multiple blooms per bulb. I usually order mine from Van Engelen here.
We will be on the Common at the Amherst Farmers Market tomorrow morning from 8 - 1:30. We’ve just processed a new batch of meat and it looks beautiful. I will have all the cuts with me including plenty of leg chunks. They are pieces of boneless leg that you can use for kabobs to grill, stir-frying, or stewing. Packs are one pound. We love this cut because it isn’t too much meat, it’s versatile, and economical.
I’ll also have a new batch of my ceramics and some new tea towel designs. Stop by and say hi. The market is full of lots of new vendors to discover, plenty of dogs to watch, and lots of delicious food to eat and prepare.
Hope to see you tomorrow.
